We visit every home in person and walk through it in a single take. We use a normal lens, so a small room looks small.
The shot list
Every walkthrough follows the same eight shots in the same order, so you can compare two places room by room instead of guessing from photos.
The timings below belong to the example walkthrough on the home page. Real homes run shorter or longer.
The street
The building, the street, and where your bike goes at night.
Front door
How you get in, and every key you will be handed.
Kitchen
Who you share it with. The hob, the fridge, and the inside of every cupboard.
Shower and toilet
The shower running for ten seconds, then the extractor fan switched on.
The room
Measured wall to wall on camera, with every socket and the radiator in shot.
Meters
Where the meters sit, and whether heating and internet come with the rent.
View and walk
What you see from your window, then the walk to the nearest tram stop, start to finish.
End of take
No cuts along the way. If the landlord changes anything later, we film it again.
Questions about the filming
Who holds the camera?
Someone from Mello. We do not accept footage shot by the landlord or an agent.
Can a room be made to look bigger on camera?
Not on a normal lens, which is why we use one. Rooms are also measured on camera, so you get a number rather than an impression.
How old is the footage?
Every listing shows its filming date. We refilm when a landlord changes the furniture, the kitchen or the flatmates.
Are the residents in the video?
No. We film shared spaces when nobody is home, and we do not enter another tenant's room without their written consent. House numbers, post and name plates are blurred.
Who owns the footage?
We do. The landlord may share the listing anywhere, but not download the file or post it elsewhere. Once the home is let, we take the video down.
